‘Nambi - the menstruation superhero’
Nambi is a playful, empowering children’s book that explains menstruation in a simple, relatable way. It was born from a desire to make periods feel less scary and more normal — for both girls and boys.
After years of teaching menstrual health, we saw how many children felt shy talking about it. So we created Nambi, a superhero who makes learning about periods fun, and full of confidence.
We’ve shared the book with children across Uganda ever since, helping break taboos, spark honest conversations, and ensure no one grows up thinking periods are something to hide.
Learning Cards
knowledge through playful learning tools
How often do women get their period? Does the colour of blood change during menstruation? What happens to a girl’s body during puberty? Big questions - and we’re here for all of them!
That’s why we’ve created fun, educational cards for kids in Ugandan schools - to initiate conversations around puberty and make learning about the body feel natural, safe and empowering. From Question Cards to True or False games, these simple tools open the door to big, important talks about puberty and periods.
Let’s talk about periods — openly, honestly, and without shame. She for She school workshops make menstruation education engaging, inclusive, and empowering for both girls and boys.
Through games, stories, and open dialogue, we teach students about puberty, hygiene, and respect — showing that periods are natural and nothing to hide.
We also train teachers to keep the conversation going, creating lasting change: girls gain confidence, boys gain understanding and schools become safer, more supportive spaces for everyone.
