Because no girl should stay home from school because of menstruation
Mary Consolata Namagambe, CEO She for She
85 women walking through the beautiful nature Copenhagen has to offer, with one common goal. Opening up the dialogue of menstruation in Denmark, whilst supporting school girls in Uganda.
🩸The 28th of May was the international menstrual hygiene day, and therefore the perfect time to start destigmatising Menstruation here in Denmark!🩸
⚡️ We were met by an incredible group of energetic and motivated women, despite a weather forecast that screamed rain and wind. To kick off the day, we started with a big group warm-up/dance session, led by our CEO Mary. Soundboks were so kind to lend us music equipment for the day, which helped set the good vibes throughout.
🚶🏼♀️ Together we walked 14km from DR Byen to Vestamager station, with a couple of stops on the way. Menstruation chants, dance sessions, and beautiful surroundings were the core components of the walk. It was amazing to see the high levels of enthusiasm throughout the entire day!
🥂 The final stop of the day was a Menstruation Party at Christiansborg with Real relief way. We ate cake and drank bubbles and drinks from Ish Spirits, whilst listening to our Dj’s play!
In order to show our appreciation to the many participants, we assembled goodie bags with a range of amazing products from: The Body Shop , Female Invest, Glittergrej , All Matters, Heart Cup, Vi Unge, Simpelt.dk, Økofamilien, Peech & Line Jensen Illustrationer
To make sure we were all hydrated and energised we had a selection of refreshments ready on the day from Nørrebrew, Nocco , ISH Spirits and The Protein Kitchen
We had a great day overall, and are so happy for the overall support and feedback received on the day. Thank you to all our sponsors, attendees and volunteers for making the day possible!
See you all for another Menstruation Walk next year!
