My day started early today. At 6 am Ugandan time, which equals to 5 am Danish Time.
I had to go to Kampala’s largest secondhand market. I was told to go there early in the morning to buy things cheaper. As tired as I was, I was finally awakened by men and women shouting:
Come and buy, come and buy!
We knew what we had come for and went straight to the stalls selling fabrics and materials that could be used for our She for She pads.
In order for us to produce and sell recyclable sanitary pads as inexpensive as possible, we had to buy reused fabrics. Besides one of our She for She criterias (to produce sanitary pads as cheap as possible) we also wanted them to be environmentally friendly.
Everything was thoroughly washed to make sure the materials for our sanitary pads are completely ready to use!
Also, the young gentleman in this video has become our main supplier!
A big thank you to Marianne Lisborg from Albastuff for all the hours she has put in helping us put together the most inexpensive sanitary pads of good quality.
